Our news is.....

I first want to say thank you to everyone who has shown support over the last few years. It's been a long journey for us to have a family of our own. It's been a long road trying to adopt from Ethiopia and as much as we love the idea of adopting from there we have decided to move on. This might not be what some of you have expected and I'm sorry if I have led you to believe that we might have a referral. We just feel that with all the changes that have been coming up that we need to look into other options for us to be a family. It wasn't an easy decision and not one was made very lightly. We do feel at this time it's the best choice for us. I hope that you all understand and support our decision.

With all that being said, we have also decided to move on to the Child Waiting Program with China. It feels we have gone full circle with this whole process. We are going to be requesting a boy under the age of 2. We are very happy and excited and are looking forward to a future with our son. I hope that all of you will understand and still be here for support during our journey.

I hope that this change of direction brings much joy!

(And, having been in our adoption process for just over 3 years, and on our 4th 'direction', I do know that this journey can be incredibly convoluted and unpredictable, for sure).

All the best to you. In hindsight we would have done the china waiting program. It's tough to make the right decisions sometimes.

Congratulations guy! I think this is wonderful news. China SN is a program we have/might still give more thought to.

If you aren't aware of the China Rumour Queen community (but you probably are), you should check it out. It can be a wonderful, supportive community with lots of info. Here are links to the main RQ blog and community forum:

Also, I really hope you'll post your referral news on the ET Yahoo group. We'll be thrilled to celebrate with you!

That is exciting news. I know how hard a decision that must have been. We are struggling with the same thing...do we stay or do we go. We are giving it another 6 months I think.

Best of luck to you, and please drop in to our blogs!!! i will be watching yours, too!
Congrats on this new journey!

When I first heard your story I thought I should suggest the DRC (Congo), because there you get a referral pretty much immediately, because there are more children than adoptive families... for whatever reason I didn't, but now I feel I should at least suggest it, just in case China doesn't work out... at any rate I hope you have a child soon and wish you the best of luck, you guys and your future child are in my prayers

Good luck on your new journey. I understand what a hard decision it is to move on to another journey but feel good in knowing you made a hard decision to make your family dreams come true.

Congratulations on your new journey! It must have been a very difficult decision to make.

I was hoping you were going to tell us the province would allow you to open 2 files.

It doesn't matter what country...we all deal with the same emotions and hardships throughout this process and need to be there for each other. We are all a family and will continue to be here to support you. I hope that you'll keep us all updated and drop by our blogs from time to time.

Can't wait to celebrate with you.

I'm so glad you have found a path that you are at peace with. When we switched from Ethiopia to Florida, it was hard to let go, but in the end we have the son God intended for us and I can't imagine life with anybody but him. I know you will eventually be united with the son who is meant to be yours and we will be cheering you on. I REALLY hope that day is SOON! We know a family here who was matched with a son through that program in only a couple of months. So it could happen soon! How exciting!

I'm glad to hear that you feel at peace with this new direction. I do believe that somewhere in this world is a child who will join your family and that will make all the twists and turns worthwhile!
